A jeep vehicle and 33 motorcycles of Rangpur District Primary Education Office have been decided to be sold at auction as the required amount of money has not been allocated even with the demand. The Primary Education Office has already written to BRTA to take necessary action.

According to the relevant sources, about four years ago, a Mitsubishi jeep (whose number is Dhaka Metro-GHA 15-2115) of the Primary Education Office was damaged in an accident in Kurigram. Several people, including an official of the education office, were injured in the accident. The jeep has been lying there ever since. The estimated value of the jeep is 30 lakh Tk. An allocation of Tk 4.5 lakh was sought for the repair of the jeep. But the jeep was not repaired due to lack of funds. In addition, another 33 motorcycles have been lying in a state of disrepair for a long time. They are also being prepared for auction.

District Primary Education Officer AM Shahjahan Siddique said the accident happened during the tenure of the officer who was before him. However, the BRTA authorities later made a list of the damage done to the jeep and sought allocation from the Ministry of Finance through the Department of Education. But even though the damaged jeep was repaired, it could not be allocated due to high cost of repairs. As a result, the jeep could not be repaired. A letter has also been sent to BRTA for auctioning 33 more damaged motorcycles. He also said that the cost of the car currently being used is increasing abnormally due to high fuel consumption.
