Different vegetables of winter season have started arriving early in the capital’s kitchen markets. But their prices are high. On the other hand, rice price has come down slightly this week.
On Friday, arrival of winter vegetables was noticed with high price while visiting the capital’s different kitchen markets including Karwan Bazar, Rampura Bazar, Khilgaon, and others.
Bean was being sold at Tk 160 to Tk 200 per kilogram (kg) while a small piece of cauliflower was being sold at Tk 50.
Traders said as the winter vegetables just started arriving in the markets, its price will remain high for next few weeks.
Besides, green chili which was sold at Tk 200 per kg are now being sold at Tk 180 per kg, per kg brinjal (round-shaped) is Tk 80 per kg, brinjal (long-shaped) is Tk 50 to tk 40 per kg, bitter gourd is Tk 60, tomato is Tk 100, string bean Tk 60 per kg, wax gourd is currently being sold at Tk 40 per piece, depending on the size of the gourd is selling at Tk 60, sponge gourd at Tk 40, parwal at Tk 40, potato at Tk 40, and at Tk 60 to Tk 60. Papaya is being sold at Tk 40 per kg. Cucumbers are being sold at Tk 60 to Tk 70. Lemon (four pieces) was being sold at Tk 10 to Tk 15.
Onions were being sold at Tk 45 per kg. Besides, dried chillies were being sold at Tk 150 to Tk 250 per kg, garlic at Tk 80 to Tk 130 per kg and ginger at Tk 100 per kg. Turmeric was being sold at Tk 180 to Tk 220.
Sugar was being sold at Tk 75 per kg. Besides, packets of sugar were being sold at Tk 78 to Tk 80 per kg.
The price of rice has come down by Tk 2 to Tk 1 per kg in the market. BR28 rice was being sold at Tk 49 to 51, Miniket at Tk 60 to 62, Paijam rice at Tk 49 per kg, coarse rice at Tk 45 to 48 per kg. Nazirshail rice is being sold at Tk 65 to 67.
The price of eggs remained unchanged. A dozen of red eggs were being sold for Tk 100. A dozen of duck eggs were being sold at Tk 150.
The price of chicken has gone up and Sonali (Cock) chicken was being sold at Tk 220 to Tk 230 per kg. Broiler chickens were being sold at Tk 120 to Tk 130 per kg. The price of layer chicken has increased by Tk 20 per kg. It was being sold at Tk 220 to Tk 230 per kg.
