Veg shop for visually impaired opens in Naogaon

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Badalgachhi in Naogaon Abu Tahir has been praised for his humanitarian and service work. The people of the upazila have gained a lot of confidence in his work. 

The UNP set another example by setting up a vegetable shop for the visually impaired Abu Saeed for his livelihood with the overall cooperation of the upazila administration.

Abu Saeed was also given Tk 2,000 in cash. Abu Tahir joined Badalgachhi as an Upazila Nirbahi Officer on October 13, 2019.

Since joining, he has been doing humanitarian and service work in the upazila. Locals are able to go to UNO with their demands without fear.

Abu Saeed, a visually impaired son of Delwar Hossain of Chaktah village in Kola union of the upazila. Abu Saeed, who is visually impaired, used to make a living by driving a van. Day by day when his eyesight deteriorated, he stopped driving the van. Five months ago, he tried to trade a few kilograms of potatoes and some vegetables in a small range at the Chak-Taher passenger camp on Akkelpur Road.

His wife Selina and 10-year-old son Abdullah helped him in this work. But due to financial hardship, he could not pick up more goods in the shop. A few days ago, the matter came to UNO’s notice.

He then promised Abu Saeed further development of the business and helped him to set up a new vegetable shop.

Expressing gratitude to UNO, Abu Saeed, a visually impaired person, said, "As a disabled person, I could not have imagined that I would be assisted in this way."
