The government of Bangladesh has been looking to expand the IT sector for a long time, ever since the dream of Digital Bangladesh has been dreamt of.
In that continuation many projects have been undertaken and many are on their way to being implemented. We have already heard of Bangabandhu High-tech Park and now a new project has been proposed for the development of the IT sector in the country which, when passed, will be headed by the authorities of Bangabandhu High-tech Park.
This project is the establishment of Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Centre which will require an estimated Tk 798.91 crore.
A report published in this daily showed that the government has undertaken this special project to create investors in the IT sector to expedite the ongoing process to make a digital Bangladesh. This will undoubtedly bolster the sector in the days to come as more and more of the youths are getting interested and involved in this sector.
The centre will also provide necessary training to the
youths to better understand things related to information
technology and also enhance their expertise in IT
On the other hand, since a lot of the IT sector depends on technical skill, it is being hoped that the centre will also provide necessary training to educate the youths to better understand things related to information technology and also enhance their expertise in IT.
And with the ensuing coronavirus epidemic it is anyone’s guess how big of a role IT has played in the continuation of people’s lives. Whether it is online education or virtual meetings, IT is the only way that has enabled people to connect properly in this dire time.
As things stand there is a growing need for skilled manpower in the IT sector now. And with the world advancing on to the information age it is high time that Bangladesh too followed it in line with the rest of the world to keep pace with development. Above all, the implementation of this project will create new job opportunities and possible scopes for investment.
We look forward to the establishment of Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Centre and hope that, in future it will be one of the leading institutes for IT in the country.
