A university student was allegedly beaten to death at a village in Jhenaidah. The deceased was identified as Arafat Hossain, 22, son of retired Army personnel Jahanagir Hossain of Sheikhpara village at Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah.
Arafat was studying in Rabindramaitree University in Kushtia. Arafat succumbed to his injuries at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital Tuesday night.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shailkua Police Station Bazlur Rahman said that Arafat Hossain and his father Jahangir Hossain were furnishing the demarcation of a piece of land near their house on Tuesday noon.
Some Abdur Razaque, son of Rustam Ali Joarder and Uzzal, son of Golam Joarder had opposed the activities which led quarrel.
At one stage, Abdur Razaque and Uzzal hit on Arafat’s head with a branch of tree, He sustained severe injuries and was taken to Kushtia General Hospital in a critical state. He was referred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. No one was arrested so far in this connection.
