Vandalism of Bangabandhu sculpture protested

Leaders and activists of Jhalokathi district Awami League and front bodies staged a protest rally and assembly in front of the party office in the district town on Thursday to protest against the demolition of the sculpture of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The coordinator and spokesperson of the Awami League 14-party alliance Amir Hossain Amu, MP, virtually addressed the programme as the chief guest.

In his speech, Amir Hossain Amu said that fundamentalist group had smashed the sculpture of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the month of victory. When this government has taken the country forward and raised its head in before the world, BNP and Jamaat are creating chaos in the country one after another. Awami League leaders and workers are ready to face this conspiracy unitedly, he added.

Jhalokathi District Awami League President Sardar Mohammad Shah Alam presided over the programme while District Awami League General Secretary Advocate Khan Saifullah Panir, Municipal Mayor Liaquat Ali Talukder, Upazila Chairman Khan Arifur Rahman and others spoke. 

At the end of the protest meeting, a protest procession was brought out in the district town. The procession started from the town hall party office and ended at the same place after going around the town.
