Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque said on Thursday that all sorts of rumours related to Covid-19 vaccine proved false as one of the 26 vaccine recipients faced any complexity till now.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina launched the campaign on Wednesday at Kurmitola Medical College Hospital.
On Thursday, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), Kuwait Maitree Hospital and Mugda Medical College and Hospital also vaccinated some of their doctors and nurses.
According to the media cell of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), so far 541 people have been vaccinated including state minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak and state minister for culture KM Khalid.
The health minister visited those centres and said a unique mood is prevailing at every centre.
All sorts of rumors over the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine have turned out false as people are showing interest to take the jab willingly, he said.
The State Minister for ICT received the vaccine on Thursday.
I am fine. There was no problem, he said, urging people not to pay heed to the rumour-mongers.
Bangladesh has already managed 7 million doses of Covid19 vaccine including 2 million gift from India.
The plan is to buy 30 million doses using Becimco Pharma, and manage 70 million more under the Covax mechanism of the WHO.
