Covid-19 vaccination has been started among the workers of Adamjee EPZ in Siddhirganj of Narayanganj. Ahsan Kabir, General Manager (GM) of Adamjee EPZ and Dr Md Imtiaz, Civil Surgeon, Narayanganj inaugurated the program on Wednesday at 10 am at the premises of Epic Garments Manufacturing Co. & Ltd.
In the initial phase of the seven-day programme, 5,000 workers from 49 factories were vaccinated with Covid-19 today. On the basis of phased registration, 54,446 workers of 49 factories of Adamjee EPZ are being vaccinated by setting up 16 booths in 6 centers under this program.
General Manager Ahsan Kabir said the initiative was taken to ensure uninterrupted production and export flow in EPZ as well as to ensure safe vaccination of workers. Besides, they are keeping in touch with the Prime Minister's Office to bring 5 lakh workers of EPZ under the immunization program. Later, in collaboration with the district administration and the Civil Surgeon, efforts are being made to bring all the workers under this program.
He added that a total of 1,63,686 workers of EPZ under BEPZA have already been vaccinated. The rest of the workers are being vaccinated. BEPZA is working to ensure 100% immunization to maintain the productive work environment of EPZs to ensure the health of BEPZA workers.
Calling on the garment workers to spontaneously get vaccinated against Covid-19, Narayanganj Civil Surgeon Mohammad Imtiaz said that the horror of Covid-19 has not abated yet. Workers are the main driving force of the country's economy. They should follow the hygiene rules and get vaccinated without any fear.
It may be mentioned that the first official vaccination program was started in Comilla EPZ on 16th August. Later other EPZs started in phases which are still ongoing.
