Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Bangladesh Ansar and VDP moved into the men’s final while THT Lion, Jamalpur and Bangladesh Ansar and VDP advanced to the women’s final of the Victory Day Handball competition after defeating their respective opponents on Wednesday.
Held at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium, in the day’s matches, Bangladesh Police Handball Club defeated Team Handball Dhaka by 36-24 goals after leading the first half by 17-13 goals.
Top favourites of the tournament, BGB and Bangladesh Ansar and VDP faced each other in their round robinleague match when the former won the match after a hard fought 30-26 goals with the winners dominated the first half by 16-8 goals.
While in the women's division matches, Bangladesh Ansar and VDP outplayed Bangladesh Police Handball Club by 35-19 goals after leading the first half by 19-13 goals while Bodolgachi Handball Association overpowered Handball Training Center, Dhaka by 31-24 goals after dominating the first half by 13-11 goals.
The final between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Bangladesh Ansar and VDP will play the final of the both men's and women’s division will be held at 12.30pm.
Dhaka Metropolis Police commissioner Habibur Rahman is expected to present in the closing ceremony of the competition and distribute the prizes, as the chief guest.
