Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi on Thursday urged the investors of Uzbekistan to invest in 100 Special Economic Zones and High Tech Park in Bangladesh.
Minister also urged to restart direct flight services aiming to expansion of tourism sector and further enhancing the bi-lateral trade between Bangladesh and Uzbekistan.
Tipu Munshi made the call while exchanging views with the visiting Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Bakhrom Aloev as a delegation led by him called on Commerce Minister at his office at the Bangladesh Secretariat.
“There have huge potentials in the fields of trade and commerce including tourism sectors of both the countries.
Prime Minister has announced special packages for the foreign investors who intend to invest in the special economic zones and high tech park, the Uzbek investors may come forward to utilize these opportunities”, Minister added.
He specially requested the Uzbek Deputy Minister for restarting direct flight mentioning that it will help making frequent trip of businessmen and exploring opportunities of business and thus the bi-lateral trade between the two countries may further enhance. Minister informed that Bangladesh will participate in the upcoming ‘Inter Governmental Commission’ scheduled to be held in August in Uzbekistan. A delegation will also be there to work on enhancing private sector participation side by side the government’s initiative.

Calling upon Bangladeshi investors to invest in Uzbekistan, Deputy Minister said Pharma products of Bangladesh has earned wide reputation across the globe.
