The government has directed educational institutions to use full names instead of short or abbreviated ones for different administrative and academic purpose.
In this regard, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) issued an order, signed by Director of the General Administration Prof Md Shahedul Khabir Chowdhury on Tuesday. The order was later sent to all field level education officers and principals of public and private colleges and headmasters of schools.
It said different educational institutions are using short names for various official and other purposes, which is inappropriate.
It further said the educational institutions, which are using abbreviated names, have been requested to use the full names of the institutions in all cases.
