US embassy to remain closed Wednesday


The U.S. Embassy, including the Consular Section, will be closed on Wednesday in celebration of Veterans Day, an American holiday, the embassy said.  Emergency services for American citizens will be available during the holiday.  Please call (88) (02) 5566-2000 to arrange an emergency appointment, it said in a statement.  The Embassy will resume normal working hours Thursday and thereafter, including emergency services for American Citizens.

U.S. citizen travelers are urged to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEPhttps://step.state.gov/step/) to receive the latest updates.In an emergency, American citizens in Bangladesh may contact the Embassy at (88) (02) 5566-2000.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the American Center, the Archer K. Blood Library, and the EducationUSA Student Advising Center remain closed to the public.

But the embassy is offering virtual programs and will reopen to the public as soon as possible but are unable to provide a specific date at this time, according to the statement.
