Today, the 4th July, is the US Independence Day. Every year the day is celebrated as the Independence Day of the United States of America. Americans all over the world will celebrate the Independence Day today with due solemnity.. This year marks the 243rd celebration of the American national holiday, and the day is typically honoured with social parties and firework displays across the USA.

Usually, a special event is also held at the White House to mark Independence Day, an occasion which is a huge celebration for many across the country. Independence Day represents the Declaration of Independence and the birth of the United States of America as an independent nation. The Congress had voted in favour of independence from Great Britain on July 2 but did not actually complete the process of revising the Declaration of Independence, originally drafted by Thomas Jefferson in consultation with fellow committee members John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Roger Sherman, and William Livingston, until two days later.

The celebration was initially modeled on that of the king’s birthday, which had been marked annually by bell ringing, bonfires, solemn processions, and oratory. Such festivals had long played a significant role in the Anglo-American political tradition.
