The concluding ceremony of joint military exercise 'Tiger Lightning-3' by the Pacific Army Command and Bangladesh Army was held at Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support Operation Training (BIPSOT) in Rajendrapur Cantonment on Thursday.
According to the ISPR, Chief of Army Staff General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed was present as the chief guest on the occasion.
He announced the successful completion of the exercise. The main objective of the exercise was to further strengthen mutual understanding and harmony by exchanging experiences between the armies of the two friendly countries.
The joint military exercise was held for practically training to make participants proficient in formulating effective plans and strategies for dealing with contemporary challenging situations while in UN peacekeeping missions.
In his concluding remarks, the Chief of Army Staff said that besides making effective contribution to the establishment of world peace, Bangladesh Army is also working with friendly countries to ensure regional peace and stability.
The United States and the Bangladesh Army have always been close partners in this endeavor, General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed added .
He hoped that the "Exercise Tiger Lightning" would help in further expanding the existing good relations and future cooperation between the two armies.
He thanked BIPOST and all concerned, including the U.S. Pacific Army Command and the Oregon National Guard, for conducting the exercise smoothly and efficiently.
British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Robert Chatterton Dixon, Deputy Chief of Mission to the United States Helen G. Laffeve and Deputy Commanding General of the United States Pacific Army Command Major General Reginald G.A. Neil, among other address at the concluding program, as special guests.
At the concluding ceremony, Commandant BIPOST Major General ASM Ridwanur Rahman greeted the guests and participants in the exercise.
Senior officers of Army, Navy and Air Force and Bangladesh Police, were also present.
Exercise Tiger Lightning-3 started on March 6. The exercise was organized by BIPSOT under the overall supervision of the Army Military Training Directorate. A total of 118 people, including 34 members of the US Pacific Army Command and 72 members of the Bangladesh Army, participated in the exercise.
It is mentionable that in 2016 and 2021, Tiger Lightning 1 and 2 were organized in the United States. Following this, Tiger Lightning-3 was held in Bangladesh this year.
