While addressing the inaugural ceremony of the 60th convention of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged the engineers to uphold Bangladesh’s existing development spree. The premier said the trend of development of Bangladesh has to be continued and it is her only expectation to engineers.

The government is working relentlessly for the development of the country’s people. The engineers are the main force of the country’s development. The incumbent government’s goal is to build the country as Smart Bangladesh' by 2041. It is also implementing Delta Plan-2100.

The ruling Awami League never takes any unnecessary mega projects. The matter on which Sheikh Hasina always put emphasis the most is that which plan will bring optimum benefits for the people of the country.

Many people say many things regarding the mega projects. But when the projects are completed, the mass people are enjoying the benefits of these.

The role of engineers

is very

important in the country's overall

development

Bangladesh has not only shown its capability by building the Padma Bridge with its own funds, but also who have worked there, from the country’s engineers have accumulated their own experience. Therefore, now many countries want Bangladesh’s cooperation in building bridges like the Padma Bridge.

Brazil wants to build their bridge over the Amazon.  In this regard, Bangladesh said that the country’s people are ready whenever needed and they are ready to cooperate.

Our engineers learned a lot during construction of the Padma Bridge. Therefore, we believe with the knowledge learned during the construction of the Padma Bridge, our engineers now can build future bridges efficiently.

Apart from Padma Bridge, they are also working on mega projects across the country. Therefore, the engineers will have to play more effective role in constructing infrastructure suitable to cope with adverse impacts of climate change.

The role of engineers is very important in the country's overall development. As the technological and engineering advancement is a key to the development of a nation, the engineers had played a significant role in reconstructing war-ravaged Bangladesh under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman immediate after the independence of the country.

We believe our engineers will be moving the country forward through technical and engineering progress. They would play a leading role in building a prosperous and developed Sonar Bangla.
