Police have recovered the body of a UP member from a mango tree on Saturday morning from Faridpur’s Nagarkanda area. The deceased, Jahangir Alam, 35, was a UP member of Ward 8 of Kaichail Union in the upazila.
Nagarkanda Circle Assistant Superintendent of Police AFM Mohiuddin said they recovered the body after being informed by the locals. However, the police could not immediately say whether it was a murder or a suicide.
Meanwhile, the younger brother of the deceased is claiming that a neighbour named Suruj called him at night and then he went missing. He is suspecting that they murdered Jahangir and hanged from the tree.
A local, Soban Matubbar said a group of people in the area accused Jahangir for stealing relief materials, which led into great chaos. Later, the OC came and reconciled both the parties. And then suddenly, this incident happened.
