An Union Parishad (UP) member was arrested for violating a mentally challenged woman in Chatkhil Upazila of Noakhali on Monday night, report agencies.
Police nabbed him from in-front-of Panchgaon Union Parishad of the upazila around 7:00pm.
The arrestee is identified as Jewel Patwari, 45, resident of Bagaipara Village of the ward and an UP member of ward no 5 of the upazila.
The victim’s mother filed a case against him with Chatkhil Police Station in this connection.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chatkhil Police Station Anwarul Islam said ‘ he was produced before court on Tuesday.
A case under Narcotic Control Act was also filed against him.
