A union parishad member was hacked to death early Sunday by some people, introducing them as law enforcement agency members, in Jamalpur's Islampur upazila.
Deceased Abdur Rahim, was the member of Kulkandi Union Ward No 1.
According to the victim's wife Rehana Begum, a gang of people of 10-12 called Abdur Rahim out of house at about 2AM. Then they hacked him indiscriminately on his house yard. When the family members came to save him, the gang members also beat up them.
At one stage, the UP members died on the spot.
Police recovered the body in the morning.
"Drives are on to nab the culprits", said Islampur Police Station OC ASM Atiqur Rahman.
