Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested an UP member along with nine pistols, 49 rounds of ammunitions and 19 magazines from the Putkhali border in Benapole on Friday afternoon.
The arrestee was identified as Korban Biswas of Putkhali village and an elected member of Putkhali Union Parishad.
Lt. M Sarwar Hussain, Company Commander of Jashore RAB-6, said that on secret information that a large consignment of arms from India was going to Jashore, RAB members raided the house of Putkhali UP member Habibur Rahman. He has been involved in arms business for a long time.
Habibur Rahman was handed over to Benapole Port Police Station after interrogation. A case has been registered in this regard at Benapole Port Police Station.
