People of different professions in Mirzapur and adjacent areas are allegedly being cheated by Bichali Union Parishad chairman SM Anisul Islam, son of Kubad Hossain of Mirzapur village under Narail Sadar Upazila.

Kubad Hossain was arrested under the Razakar and Dalal Act of 1971. Local sources said, chairman Anisul has been using various tactics to cover up the controversial anti-liberation activities of his father Kubad Hossain and his own misdeeds by pretending to be a confidant of the ruling party.

Top leaders of the district Awami League and the apostate leaders and workers of the local Awami League are uneasy about the misdeeds, injustices and terrorist activities of the chairman and his terrorist forces by discrediting the ruling party.

Several people told this correspondent on condition of anonymity that he got the election pass using the names of the people's representative and the party leaders.

The innocent and peace-loving people of the area do not dare to open their mouths for fear of Anisul and his terrorist forces. When anyone protested against the misdeeds and terrorist activities of the chairman and his terrorist forces, the chairman tried to harass them in various ways by making conspiratorial and false allegations to the administration in his name.

It has been alleged that he (chairman) is trying to harass the apostate leaders and workers of the local Awami League through former BNP Vice-President of Bichali union Akidul Sheikh. There are rumors in the area that Imran Munshi, Belal Sheikh, Nur Islam alias Doctor, Azim Sheikh, Taher Munshi, Injil Sheikh and Sohan Khandaker are involved in various misdeeds of the chairman.

Kubad Hossain of Mirzapur village of Narail in the then greater Jashore district was shown arrested on 9 December 1971 as a Razakar and Dalal in Greater Kushtia, Khulna, Jashore, Patuakhali and Barisal in a list of Razakars, edited by ASM Shamsul Arefin published in 1999 from Bangladesh Research and Publications.

According to local sources, UP Chairman SM Anisul Islam started introducing himself as a member of the current ruling party to cover up the anti-independence activities of his father Kubad Hossain.

Several leaders and activists of the local Awami League and its affiliates also said that Anisul used to identify himself as a member of the ruling party to cover up her misdeeds and terrorist activities.
