UP chairman’s house looted in Tarash

A robbery took place at the house of the Chairman of Talam Union Parishad under Tarash upazila of Sirajganj district and President of Union Awami League unit Md Abbasuzzaman.

The robbers nabbed Chairman Abbasuzzaman in the face of firearms and looted goods worth around Tk 45 lakh, including 70 Bhori of gold ornaments and cash taka.

The incident took place at the house of Abbasuzzaman, chairman of Tartia village in Talam union of the upazila around 1am on Tuesday night.

Confirming the matter, Tarash Police Station Officer-in-Charge Fazle Ashiq said he was busy investigating the incident. Details will be announced later.

Abbasuzzaman said a gang of 20 to 25 armed men entered his house through the back door at around 1pm on Tuesday. Later, the robbers took him and his elderly mother hostage with firearms and tied them with ropes.

At that time, the robbers broke into seven cupboards of the house, four trunks and looted about 70 to 75 Bhori of gold ornaments, 230,000 taka in cash, three mobile phones and goods worth Tk 45 lakh.

On receiving the news, Tarash police visited the spot that night.

In this regard, Tarash Police Station OC Fazle Ashiq said, police have been working at the spot since night. Besides, the matter is being investigated and legal action is being taken.
