Kazi Reza, chairman of 1 No Balla Union Parishad in Harirampur Upazila of Manikganj has been suspended.
Harirampur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Saiful Islam confirmed the matter on Saturday evening. He said, the information came to light through a circular signed by Abu Jafar Ripon Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives. According to the circular, there are criminal cases against Kazi Raza filed with Harirampur police station on various charges, including Case No. 08, Date: 06/04/2018, Case No. 19, Date: 26/05/2018 and Case No. 08, Date: 16/11/2015.
Therefore, the criminal activities committed by Kazi Reza were against the public interest including the council and he has suspended from his post as per section 34 (1) of the Local Government (Union Parishad) Act, 2009.
When contacted, Chairman Kazi Reza said, I have taken bail all the three cases from the concerned court, which mentioned in the notification.
