Sharif Shahab Uddin, who had been serving at the Bangladesh Post as editor-in-chief, has been discharged from the national English daily.
The decision was taken on Saturday at a meeting held between the top officials of Sikder Group, a globally famous Bangladeshi business conglomerate which is the sole investor of the Bangladesh Post, and the leaders of Bangladesh Post Sangbadik Karmachari Oikya Parishad.
The meeting was held at the Banani head office of the group in the city.
The decision was taken due to indiscriminate irregularities, misconduct and misbehavior of Sharif Shahab Uddin in the daily as the editor-in-chief.
All concerned including agencies and other organisations are requested to disown Sharif Shahab Uddin in this regard.
It was also decided to empower the existing Acting Editor ASM A Khaleque with additional functions and responsibilities to be effective very soon.
All journalists and employees of the Bangladesh Post welcomed the decision and thanked the top management for their prompt decision.
Earlier, Bangladesh Post Sangbadik Karmachari Oikya Parishad, the united platform of the journalists and employees of the daily, declared Sharif Shahab Uddin ‘Unwanted’ in an unanimous decision taken on October 16 last.
The meeting had taken place at the newsroom of Bangladesh Post in Tejgaon Industrial Area in Dhaka city.
