Unusual prices hike in stocks

DSE issues warning to investors, notices to cos

As the prices of shares of some companies have risen sharply recently, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the country's main stock exchange, has issued warning on to the investors of those companies.

Prices of shares of Shepherd Industries, Eastern Lubricants, Dulamia Cotton and Dominic Steel Buildings, which are listed on the stock exchange, have risen abnormally. DSE issued warning for the investors of these four companies on Wednesday.  

The DSE said a notice was sent to the companies on Wednesday to explain the reason for the unusual rise in share price.

In response, authorities at the four companies said there was no undisclosed price-sensitive information for the unusual rise in share prices recently.

On April 11, however, the price of each share of the Dominance Steel Building was Tk 17.50, which increased a lot and stood at Tk 38.10 at the end of the 7 September transaction.

In other words, the company's share price has risen by Tk 20.60 or 118 percent in four months.

On the other hand, on April 29, the Shepherd Industries' share price was Tk 10.80, which rose to Tk 21.60 at the end of the September 7 transaction.

In other words, in less than four months, the company's share price has risen by Tk 10.80 or 100 percent.

On April 20, the Dulamia Cotton's share price was Tk 38.20, which rose to Tk 38.50) at the end of the September 7 transaction. In other words, the share price of the company has increased by Tk 80.30 or 105 percent in four months.

On April 4, the Eastern Lubricant's share price was Tk 970.50, which rose to Tk 2,100.90 thousand 100 rupees 90 paisa at the end of the September 6 transaction. In other words, the share price of the company has increased by Tk 1,130.40 or 116 percent in four months.
