Public transportation including vehicular movement is being severely disrupted due to the placement of the soil of the canal digging for water drainage of Chondah Beel of Nandanpur Union of Santhia Upazila of Pabna on the paved road of LGED. Residents are not getting any remedy even after filing a written complaint with the Upazila Nirbahi Officer for removing the soil from the road.

It has been reported that under the surface water irrigation project of Pabna Natore-Sirajganj district, canal digging work was started to eliminate the waterlogging of different Beels including Chondah, Rangamatia, Daramuda, Hapaniya by Santhia Upazila Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC). Residents complained that BADC of Santhia The authorities are trying to collect the work bill by not digging the canal in the dry season and completing the work hastily without giving any work order in the monsoon season.

It is alleged that the contractor and concerned authorities are damaging the road by cutting soil irregularly. In many places, the clay excavation has caused it to collapse again in the rains. As a result, during the monsoon season, while excavating clay in the water, the excavated soil is piled up on the only public road, making the road unusable for vehicles and common people.

On the surface, the entire road is covered with piles of soil. Even a van cannot pass through the empty part of the road. If it rains again, the road becomes muddy. As a result, the young students of that area are admitted to the accident while walking. If a van enters the road, even a bicycle cannot be taken on the side.

Farmers have to face extreme hardships to bring agricultural crops home as vehicles cannot ply on roads. At the end of the road is a huge fish farm. In this season, millions of rupees worth of fish are produced from those fish farms, but the fish traders are not able to supply fish food due to the lack of traffic on the road. As a result, fish traders are also facing extreme losses. Mustafa Kamal has filed a written complaint to the Upazila Nirbahi Officer on behalf of the local residents for quick removal of soil from the road.  In this regard, Assistant Engineer of Upazila Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) ANM Ahmed Imtiaz Tanmoy said that the issue of soil has been discussed with UNO. Soil will be removed quickly. He said that the authorities will take the soil to the Ataikula school ground. Upazila Executive Officer SM Jamal Ahmed said that arrangements will be made to quickly remove the soil.
