United Public School and College won the BFF-Samakal National Science Debate Festival. Shahabuddin Memorial School and College became the runner-up in the National Science Debate Festival on Sunday.
Mohammad Irfan Ahmed, the team leader of the champion team, was selected as the best speaker in the debate.
On Sunday (March 10th) Jamalpur United Public School and College Seminar Hall held this day-long debate festival. Debaters from eight reputed public and private schools of the district participated in the debate festival.
The competition was inaugurated at 10 am by Captain SIM Jahaniar, PSC, BN, Principal of United Public School and College. Police Superintendent Md Kamruzzaman, BPM was present as the chief guest. Additional Deputy Commissioner Sarvik Shithesh Chandra Sarkar was the special guest.
President of Police Women's Welfare Association (Punak) Sanjida Haque Mau, Secondary Education Officer Mohammad Chanwar Hossain, District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Md Alamgir Hossain, Executive Engineer of Directorate of Education and Engineering Md Anwar Hossain, Adviser of Samakal Suhrid Assembly eminent businessman Shyamal Chandra Saha, President of Jamalpur Press Club.
Hafiz Raihan Sada, District Press Club President Advocate Yusuf Ali, Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Mohabbat Kabir and District Detective (DB) OC Kazi Shahnewaz, Model Press Club President Mostafizur Rahman and Project Implementation Officer Arifur Rahman, were present.
At that time, Dewanganj upazila representative MA Razzak Mika and Bakshiganj representative Masud-al-Hasan were present. The educational institutions that participated in the debate are Jamalpur District School, Government Girls High School, United Public School and College, Bangabandhu Ideal School and College, Shahabuddin Memorial School and College, Bakshiganj Ulfatunnessa Government Girls High School, Hazrat Shahjamal (R) School and College, Quark Public School.
Suhrid Assembly Jamalpur District Committee President Zahidul Alam Sohel presided over the programme, Suhrid Assembly Jamalpur District Committee General Secretary Md Noor Alam Khan Sujan. Abdul Hai Al Hadi, Professor of Bengali Department of Government Ashek Mahmud College, poet and journalist Syed Ansari, Assistant Professor of Islampur Government JJKM Girls School and College Md. Sajjad Hussain acted as judges in the debate.
At the end of the ceremony, the guests handed over crests and certificates to the participants of the champion and runner-up teams. Samakal Jamalpur district representative Anwar Hossain Mintu was the coordinator of the event.
