Unique example of honesty set by Jhenidah chatpatty seller

When the country has been facing the crisis of honest and sincere people in all sectors to make it free from corruption, irregularity and bribery, a poor chatpatty seller of Kaliganj town in Jhenidah has set a unique example of honesty returning a bundle of note which he picked up from a road on Thursday night.

The money was returned to the owner through the chairman of local union parishad on Saturday. Chatpatti seller Bellal Hossain, son of Nurul Haque Mollah of Kola village in Kaliganj upazila, said he was returning home after the closing of his business on the night of Thursday. Suddenly he found a packet with a bundle of money. He got worried and informed the matter to local union parishad chairman Ayub Hossain instantly. They searched the owner of the money Abdur Rashid, a timber vendor of Kaliganj. Later the money was returned to Abdur Rashid through the union parishad chairman on Saturday.

When contacted, Bellal Hossain said he belongs to a poor family and faced acute financial crisis since childhood. But he did not want to earn money through unethical means. He felt good being able to return the money to the owner in time. Owner of the money Abdur Rashid after receiving the lost money, said he was saved due to honesty of a poor man like him. He had been running his timber business with loan money received from the non-governmental organizations where he had to pay interests. He thanked Bellal Hossain profusely.

Kola union parishad chairman Ayub Hossain when contacted said he was glad to realize that there are honest men like Bellal Hossain in his area who is free from any corruption, lust and other unethical activities. Honesty of Bellal Hossain will show right way before the people of the area as well as the country when it will be focused through various media.
