An unidentified body was found floating in the Kumar Khali Ghat area of Biaghat Union, near the Nazirpur Bridge in Gurudaspur Upazila, Natore. Local residents discovered the body in the river around 8:30 on Monday morning (October 28) and informed the police.
Upon receiving the information, Gurudaspur Thana Police quickly arrived at the scene and recovered the body. Local residents and police have identified the deceased as Milon Mia (38), son of Khejer Prodhan from Doulatpur village in Nazirpur Union of the upazila.
Regarding the incident, the police Detective Branch and Gurudaspur Thana Police have launched a joint investigation.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Dulal Hossain of Gurudaspur Thana stated, "After getting the news, we recovered the body from the spot. The identity of the deceased has been established. The body has been sent to the morgue of Natore Modern Sadar Hospital for autopsy. Police are working to determine the actual cause of death."
The victim's mother, Moneza Begum, alleged that on the night of the Sastannagar boat race (October 25), former member Alam of Nazirpur Union took her son Milon away while he was eating dinner, and her son never returned. She demanded justice from law enforcement.
In response, former member Alam claimed these allegations are fabricated. He stated that one faction is making them say these things solely to politically malign him. He denied any knowledge regarding Milon's death, although he added that the deceased Milon was previously a thief.
Sources indicate the body may have been in the water for several days. The incident has created a stir in the local area.
