We are horrified by the destruction of the Nasser and Al Shifa medical facilities in Gaza and reports of mass graves with hundreds of bodies interred there. Some of them had their hands tied, which, of course, indicates serious violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law, and these need to be subjected to further investigations, according to foreign news agencies.

A mass grave with 324 bodies was uncovered this week at the Nasser Medical Complex in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis by Gaza Civil Defense workers following the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the area. The United Nations has called for an “independent, effective and transparent investigation” into the discovery of mass graves at two Gaza hospitals that were besieged and raided by Israeli troops this year.

We also strongly condemn and protest the Israel’s barbaric and brutal attitude towards the Palestinians. At least 34,262 people have been killed in the territory during the period of over six months of war between Israel and Palestinians Besides, 77,229 people have been wounded in the Gaza Strip since the war between Israel and the Hamas group.

Gaza’s 2.3m population is on the brink of famine and children are starving to death. An estimated 300,000 Palestinians are living there with little or no food or clean water.  The mass killing throughout Palestine has already spurred widespread international condemnation and protests at Israeli embassies in several countries in the world. Several lakh of   people continued protesting in different countries across the globe over the deadly strike on Gaza. It is a ‘despicable crime’.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina now on six-day official tour to Thailand again urged the world leaders to say “no” to wars. All must speak out against all forms of aggression and atrocities as the precondition for sustainable development is the lasting peace and security. Sheikh Hasina made the call while addressing the 80th Session of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific at the ESCAP hall in UN Conference Center there. We do not want to see killing of civilians especially women, innocent children and elderly people.  The women and children are the worst sufferers of the war.

As conflict continues to ravage Gaza, pregnant women in the enclave are facing unprecedented challenges. The recent Israeli airstrikes have left expectant mothers fearing for the safety of their unborn children and their own lives, according to international news agencies.

The world has been witnessing the war ---firstly the Russia-Ukraine war and now Israeli attack on the Palestine. And fresh concern grips the world as tension escalated between Iran and Israel.

It can’t be tolerated at all in this civilised world that the Israel will continue killing Palestinians.  No argument can justify the disruption of prayer by the worshippers and breach of international humanitarian laws and human rights standard. The Israeli forces expose the severe violation of human rights, international laws, and accords which have immensely triggered civic feelings across the world. Several lakh of people in many foreign countries including Bangladesh are staging demonstrations calling an end to the repeated violation of human rights and international humanitarian principles in Palestine by the occupying Israeli forces.

However, it is very unfortunate when we see most of the influential world leaders remain silent in this regard. We want to pose a question before the world community-is Israel above all international laws?

The international community must come forward to find a peaceful solution to the Palestine crisis in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions, the Arab Peace Initiative, and the Quartet Road Map. The world leaders should also take immediate step to ‘stop this tragedy immediately’.
