Music has so many genres that often times a person might find a genre which he/she has never heard of before. Even if he is a hard core music fan, there is bound to be something which he feels differently towards. However, the band of four, calling themselves Uncertainty Principle (UP), has taken feeling different to another level. And, their songs are sure to leave a few people scratching their heads, asking themselves “what genre is that?”

On July 22, Monday, a musical event titled ‘Music Buzz’ was organised at American Center at Baridhara in the capital. The programme started from 4:00pm and lasted until 5:00pm. However, during the short one hour a number of songs were played by the band.

Their tracks included both rock, alternate rock and to the surprise of some, a number of Rabindra Sangeet tracks along with a number of original titles. The Rabindra Sangeet titles they played were rock-fusion covers of Pothohara Tumi and Tomar Khola Haowa.

But other than this, they also played their original tracks, which included – Dying light and Northern lights.

According to the members of UP, their aim is to promote joy through their originals, “UP is the active promoter of happiness and positivity. We dream of spreading the pure magic of music which will transcend genres. We also believe music can heal hearts, minds, and souls. The track list is for all the young adults and adults who have gone through any form of depression at any point in their lives. Moreover, as we are celebrating the moon landing which was a very magical triumph of humanity and we believe that our songs are also quite magical as they tell the tales people and their surreal connection with the world.”

Regarding the Tagorian fusions they said, “The classical or traditional music is losing its place among the youth. If we want to pass on classical music so that it’s accepted by the majority of the youth, it needs to be presented in a way which will be accepted by them. Fusion is one such way. The young generation will unknowingly fall into the rhythm of staying connected to their roots through our fusion of traditional songs.”

The band members Shayantani Twisha (vocalist), Tahmid Rahman (guitarist), Yusuf Yahya Tuhin (drummer), Arif Rahman Mishu (bassist) are all full time job holders and are trying to make their music better.

The evening concluded with the band’s original track titled ‘Northern Lights’.
