The country director of ILO in Dhaka Tuomo Poutiainen said that the UN System is seeking the areas where they could build strategic partnership with the private sector. The system works closely with both Government and Private Sector entities in Bangladesh in enhancing national capacities in support of the country’s national development agenda.
He mentioned five strategic areas where ILO is focusing on, which are: Economic development, Social protection, Climate change, Governance and Gender protection. UN System is working to integrate coordinated and concrete engagement of private sector to achieve SDGs and implementation of national development programs.
Tuomo Poutiainen made the remarks in a view exchange meeting while he met Sheikh Fazle Fahim, the president of FBCCI at the FBCCI Icon, Motijheel in the capital on Saturday.
The Meeting discussion was focused on private sector’s role, and strategic partnership between private sector and UN System on economic development in Bangladesh.
The meeting explored the possible technical support from the UN System to the private sector of Bangladesh after LDC graduation, the opportunities for innovation, achievement of SDGs, economic diversification and inclusive digital economy; as well as Private sectors contribution towards rebuilding the economy into a green and sustainable.
The President of FBCCI, Sheikh Fazle Fahim said, taking into account the overall economic ecosystem of Bangladesh, from MSMEs to largest industries; FBCCI urged for the technical supports from UN System especially in the areas of industry and economic diversification, export competitiveness, product and market diversification, Standardization and Certification, export strategy development, facilitating women & young entrepreneurs, harmonization, supporting innovation, start-ups and their ecosystem, sustainability and inclusive growth.
FBCCI President stressed on cooperation and technical support from UN system to develop a mechanism to quantify the investment of the private sector towards SDGs.
President of FBCCI apprised about FBCCI’s 3600 approach for trade skills, applied skills in AI, IOT, big data, cyber security, and 140 hours modular programs that can be added on to graduate level.
He highlighted the FBCCI Impact 4.0 initiative entailing FBCCI ADR Center, Tech Center, Skill Lab, FBCCI Institute, FBCCI University, and Economic Applied Research Center. FBCCI Impact 4.0 DNA has domestic synergies with globally top rated knowledge partners.
