A human chain, rally, and press conference were held in Ulipur on Thursday, demanding that Abdul Khaleq, BNP's Rangpur Division Associate Organizing Secretary, be officially declared the party's nominated candidate for the Kurigram-3 (Ulipur) constituency.
The programs, organized by a cross-section of Ulipur residents, took place on the road adjacent to the Ulipur petrol pump at 11:00 AM.
Speakers at the event, including Assistant Professor Obaidur Rahman, Harun-ur-Rashid, Ismail Hossain, Tarazul Islam, and Maulana Abul Gani, expressed deep disappointment with the recent party decision to suspend the nomination process for the Kurigram-3 seat and initiate a fresh vetting procedure.
They argued that Abdul Khaleq, known as a pillar of the Ulipur BNP due to his long record of public service, organizational skills, and leadership qualities, is the most suitable candidate for the constituency.
"Under the leadership of Abdul Khaleq, the BNP in Ulipur is well-organized and united," the speakers stated. "Declaring him as the official candidate will not only strengthen the party in Ulipur but throughout the entire Kurigram district."
Following the human chain, a rally marched through the main streets of the town and concluded at the Upazila Square. A brief press conference was subsequently held there.
The organizers presented a clear and singular demand: that the BNP Chairperson finalize the nomination of Abdul Khaleq for the Kurigram-3 constituency, affirming the local committee's choice.
