United International University (UIU) hosted a reception titled “Meet the Champions of UIU” on Saturday to celebrate the remarkable success of three of its robotics teams — UIU Mars Rover, UIU Mariner, and UIU Ascend — in prestigious international competitions.

The event, organised by The App Forum (AF), a wing of the Directorate of Career Counseling & Student Affairs (DCCSA), took place at the UIU campus. Prof A.S.M. Salahuddin, Vice Chancellor (In-charge), presided over the programme. Special guest Mr. Ariful Hasan Opu, President of Space Innovation Camp and Adviser for NASA Space Apps Challenge Bangladesh, praised the teams for “changing the technology map of Bangladesh.”

UIU Mars Rover secured 1st place in Asia for the fourth consecutive year and 6th globally at the University Rover Challenge 2025, and 3rd globally at the Anatolian Rover Challenge 2025. UIU Mariner made history as Bangladesh’s first university team to compete in the MATE ROV World Championship, securing 5th globally, 1st in Asia, and the Technical Documentation Champion title. UIU Ascend achieved 2nd in Asia and 7th globally at the CanSat Competition 2025, improving on last year’s 3rd in Asia and 11th globally.

Professor Emeritus Dr. M Rezwan Khan and Prof Dr. Hasan Sarwar also addressed the ceremony, encouraging students to combine academic excellence with technological innovation.

Over 150 students from nine leading colleges in Dhaka, along with university teachers, officials, and distinguished guests, attended the programme, witnessing UIU’s continued rise as a leader in robotics on the global stage.
