Professor Muhammad Alamgir, member of Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC), said artificial intelligence will have an impact on the dynamics of higher education in Bangladesh just as it has on affluent nations worldwide.

In accordance with the global context, he invited the educationists to offer suggestions for how artificial intelligence may be incorporated into the country's institutions' higher education curricula.

He said this while speaking as chief guest at the inauguration of a day-long training workshop on ‘the possibilities and threats of artificial intelligence and robotics to face the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution’, according to a press release.

The innovation wing of the UGC organised the training at the commission’s auditorium in Dhaka on Monday. Around 60 officials from the UGC participated in the workshop.

Director of Planning and Development Department Mohammad Maksudur Rahman Bhuiyan presided over the event, while UGC secretary Ferdous Zaman and UGC Public Relations and Information Rights Department director Shamsul Arefin spoke as special guests.

Professor Senjuti Rahman, chairperson of the robotics and mechatronics engineering department of Dhaka University, was present as a discussant at the workshop.
