The University Grants Commission (UGC) has allowed conditional recruitment tests and interviews online, in addition to physical presence at public universities, in the interest of continuing educational activities amid the pandemic.

Regarding this, a letter signed by Ferdous Zaman, UGC Secretary (additional responsibilities), was sent to the Vice-Chancellors and Registrars of all public universities on Sunday.

It said in the letter that, amid the Covid transmission, online education is ongoing in universities. If it is not possible to take the conventional physical recruitment tests and interviews in the interest of continuing the educational program, the recruitment process can be completed by taking the online tests and interviews subject to the following conditions:

1. Online recruitment tests and interviews cannot be conflicting with the university laws.

2. In accordance with the laws, statutes and rules of the university, in view of the demand of the concerned authority, the recruitment process should be started through open notification against the approved posts.

3. There should be a policy approved by the Syndicate as per the recommendation of the Academic Council of the University for conducting online recruitment tests and interviews.

4. Audio-video of online recruitment tests and interviews should be properly stored for at least two years.

5. The original certificate of the selected applicant should be verified and the appointment letter should be given.
