Two youths beaten by drunk juvenile gang for protesting eve-teasing

A group of drunk juveniles beat up two youth for protesting against eve-teasing of a young woman at Islam Plaza of Thana Road area in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital on Sunday night. 

“The victims lodged a written complaint mentioning three names, and two to three anonymous persons in this regard on Monday evening. Legal action will be taken after investigate the matter”, said Md. Salahuddin, Duty Officer of Savar Model Police Station.

The victims were identified as MehediAlamShourav, 27, son of SahanurAlamShantu, hailed from Bazar road area of Savar, and AshrafulAlamAlif, 27, son of JakariaJatan, hailed from Bank colony area of Savar.

On the other hand the accused three were identified asSiyamMustakimFariz, Shakhawat Hossain Fahimand Al-Amin. All of them are from Shyampur area of Savar’sHemayetpur.

According to the complaint, the accused came to the spot with a private car in a drunk condition and tried to harass a young girl, who was standing there with her cousin brother Shourav. At one point, the group of juveniles beat up those two youth when they protested against the harassment of the young girl.

Locals and eye witnesses of the incident claimed that upon arriving Police removed them all from the scene but, did not detain any of the accused from the scene. 

When contacted, Obaydur Rahman, Sub Inspector of Savar model police station told the Bangladesh Post, “On information, we rushed to the spot and removed them all from the scene to avoid any unwanted situation, and asked the victim to file a complaint”.
