Two women were found dead at Monirampur upazila in Jashore on Friday evening. Police recovered the hanging bodies of the women from her resident at the upazila.
The deceased were identified as Razia Khatun, 28, wife of Billal Hossain of Jalalpur village, and Momotaz Bagum, 55, wife of Abdul Azij of Dakuria northpara of the upazila. Razia Khatun took her life by hanging herself from the ceiling of her room, said police and family members. Razia has a nine-month-old daughter named Mou. On the other hand, Thakuria union Parisad member, Mosharraf Hossain Tuku said that Mumtaz Begum committed suicide by hanging at the back of her house on Friday night.
It is not known exactly why Mumtaz Begum committed suicide. Monirampur Police Station (OC) Rafiqul Islam confirmed the incident and said the bodies were sent to the Jashore general Hospital morgue for autopsy. They are investigating whether it was a murder or an accident, said the OC.
