The ninth edition of the ICC Women’s T-20 World Cup will kick off at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, United Arab Emirates (UAE) at 4.00p.m. on Thursday. Bangladesh have been taking part in the ICC women’s T20 World Cup since 2014. The edition of the tournament is set to be Bangladesh’s sixth appearance in the competition.
Before this event Bangladesh played 22 matches in five World cup. They won only two outings and lost 20 encounters.
However, the Bangladesh women’s team doesn’t have many fond memories in the tournament. In their maiden appearance in 2014, Bangladesh had won two matches.
Skipper Nigar said that this time her team wants to break the cycle of failure, “Everyone in the team wants to break the (losing) cycle. If we can gain the momentum in the first match and then carry it forward, then it could happen. Looking at our opponents in the group phase, I believe winning two-three matches is quite possible. We just need to gain that momentum.”
Still, Nigar is confident with her team which has a good mix of experience and youth.
