Two shops fined in Jhenaidah

The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection in Jhenaidah has fined two business establishments including a fertilizer and pesticides shop at two places in Jhenidah Sadar upazila.

The drives were conducted as a part of regular market monitoring by the directorate on Saturday.

National consumer rights protection directorate assistant director in Jhenidah Suchandan Mandal said as a part of regular activities they witnessed that a fertilizer and pesticides businessman at Suranjan Store at Dakkhin Shikarpur Bazer in Jhenidah Sadar upazila was allegedly selling date expired pesticides and some other food items.

Further, the vendor was charging excessive prices of the fixed price. He was also cheating the people with least in weight technique in his balance. The authorities had fined the shop owner Taka 24 thousand under the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009.

Later the authority swooped on a cosmetics shop at Baliadanga Bazer in same upazila on the same day. They fined Taka one thousand to some Sabuj Store when the vendor was selling contra banned cosmetics and cheating the innocent people in the locality.
