Members of BGB Cox’s Bazar Battalion (34 BGB) has apprehended two drug traffickers with 90,000 pieces of Yaba tablets in a special operation in Ukhiya on Thursday.
The arrested women are Mosammat Golzahar, 33, and Mosammat Kulsum, 29, living in Block-C of Kutupalong Registered Camp in Ukhiya.
According to a press release from the BGB, on Thursday (June 26) at around 1:30 PM, a special patrol team from Rezuamtali Border Outpost, acting on their own intelligence, took a position at Hajampora near the border area. At 2:00 PM, two individuals carrying a bag were approaching from the Myanmar border toward Bangladesh. When challenged by BGB personnel, they abandoned the bag and tried to escape. However, the team promptly arrested the two women, identified as forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals (FDMNs).
Upon searching the abandoned bag, the BGB recovered 90,000 Yaba tablets.
The arrested individuals are being handed over to the police for legal action, the BGB stated in the press release
