Two motorcyclists were killed in a head-on collision between a tractor and a motorcycle in Pangkhar Bazar area under Subarnachar upazila of Noaskhali district on Wednesday night.
The deceased were identified as Shahadat Hossain, and his cousin Farhad.
The accident occurred when Shahadat and Farhad were returning home from Pangkhar Bazar on a motorcycle and collided head-on with a fertilizer-loaded tractor coming from opposite direction in the area around 8.45 pm , leaving two motorcyclists seriously injured, officer-in-charge (OC) of Charjabbar police station Deb Priya Dash said.
The injured were taken to Upazila Health Complex, where Shahadat succumbed to his injuries at around 11pm , he said.
Later, Farhad was taken to 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital for better treatment, but he died around 11.45pm while under treatment, Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of the Hospital Dr. Syed Mohiuddin Abdul Azim said.
Police seized the tractor and motorcycle from the spot, but driver of the tractor fled the scene, the OC added.
