Two people were killed in a head-on collision between a locally made engine run three-wheeler Nasimon and battery-run auto rickshaw on the Hatikumrul-Banpara highway in Hamkuria area under Tarash upazila of the district Tuesday.
One of the deceased was identified as battery-run auto rickshaw driver Saidur Rahman, 27, son of Amir Hossain of Bara Belai village of Handyal union under Chatmohar upazila while identity of another victim could not be known immediately.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station Abdul Wadudu said the accident occurred when a battery-run auto rickshaw and a shallow engine- run Nasimon collided head-on in the area around 2:30pm this afternoon, leaving auto rickshaw driver Saidur Rahman and an unidentified woman dead on the spot.
Police recovered the bodies from the spot, the OC said. Police also seized the vehicles, the OC added.
