Two people were killed in a bus crash in Abhaynagar upazila of Jashore District on Thursday. They were killed by a Rupsha Paribahan on their way back from a picnic from the Sundarbans on Thursday night.
Siddiqur Rahman, OC of Nawapara Highway Police Station, said that the incident took place on Jashore-Khulna Highway near Prembagh School in Basundia of the upazila.
He said the bus coming from Rajshahi for a picnic in the Sundarbans took a break for prayers in Prembagh area. Subed Ali (55) and Kubad Ali (54) were hit by a speeding bus of Rupsha Paribahan (Jashore Cha-11-00196) while crossing the road after prayers.
They died on the way to Abhaynagar Upazila Health Complex after being rescued by locals. The house of the deceased is in Paba upazila of Rajshahi. The bus was detained by the police. A case has been filed in this regard.
