Two persons were killed and two more injured when a goods-laden truck collided head-on with two motorbikes on Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj highway at Basantapur area under Godagari upazila of Rajshahi on Friday. The deceased were identified as Ezaz Ahmed (20) son of Mohammad Ali Bokul of Lakshimpur area of Rajshahi city and Jahid Hossain (20) of Pirojpur village under Godagari upazila.
Kamrul Islam, Officer-in-charge of Godagari Police Station said four youths including Ezaz and Jahid were heading toward Godagari by two motorbikes on Friday noon. When they reached Basantapur area of the upazila at 3.00 pm, a goods-laden truck coming from the opposite direction collided head-on with their motorbikes, leaving Ezaz and Jahid dead on the spot, Kamrul Islam added.
The police official said that the injured duo was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Kamrul Islam said that they seized the truck but both the driver and the helper managed to escape.
‘We have sent the bodies of the deceased to RMCH morgue for autopsy’ he said, adding that legal action would be taken in this regard.
