A man and his son were killed in a road accident in Board Bazer area under Sadar upazila of the district on Thursday morning.

The deceased were identified as Samir Uddin, 65, and his son Rejaul Karim, 40, of Mitapukur village in the district. Locals said the accident occurred when a speedy track, coming from Tetulia, collided head-on with Rejaul's motorcycle in the area around 11.30 am as he along with his father (Samir Uddin) were going to Tetulia by the vehicle, leaving them critically injured.

Being informed, Fire Service and Civil Defence personnel rushed to the spot and recovered them with the help of locals. Critically wounded Samir and Rejaul were brought to Panchagarh Sadar Hospital where on-duty doctor Umme Humayra declared them dead.

Sub-Inspector (SI) of Tetulia Highway Thana Police Md Asraful Alam confirmed the incident.  Police seized the truck but its driver managed to flee the scene, the SI added.

It is to be mentioned that in last few weeks, accidents in this road have increased due to high density of fogs, illegal maneuvering of three wheelers and reckless driving of truck drivers. Patrolling in this area will be increased for quick response and curb down traffic violation, officials said.
