Shibbir Hossain and Abul Hossain were killed in separate road accidents in Chatkhil and Sonaimuri upazilas of Noakhali. Another passenger named Bibi Kulsum was injured in the incident.
The accident took place at a separate place on Wednesday afternoon. Chatlakhil Ghatlabagh Union Binatala village Maulana Azizur Rahman's son. Shibbir Hossain (24) and Abul Hossain (55), son of Shahidul Islam of Dumuria area of Sonaimuri. The injured Bibi Kulsum (25) is the daughter of Abul Kashem of Dumuria area.
According to local sources, Khatib Shibbir Hossain of Yasin Haji Bazar Bara Masjid was going to his house in Binatala village on a motorcycle from Ghatlabagh area of Chatkhil upazila at noon. Shibbir was injured when a pickup van coming from the opposite direction crushed his motorcycle from the front. He was later rescued by the locals and taken to the Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Chatkhil police officer in charge (OC) confirmed the matter. Gias Uddin. He said the body was handed over to the family as there was no complaint from the victim's family.
Meanwhile, Abul Hossain, a motorized autorickshaw driver, was taking passengers from Nandia Para in Sonaimuri Upazila to Dumuriartek around 1.30pm. When his autorickshaw reached the Dumuriartech area, it collided head-on with a CNG coming from the opposite direction. The autorickshaw overturned and fell into a ditch on the side of the road. Later, locals rescued passenger Kulsum and driver Abul Hossain and took him to Bajra Health Complex. The on-duty doctor declared Abul Hossain dead. Sonaimuri Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Harun Aur Rashid said the body of autorickshaw driver Abul Hossain was recovered and sent to the morgue of Noakhali General Hospital for autopsy.
