Two killed in motorcycle-microbus collision in Shibchar

Two motorcyclists were killed in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and a microbus at Shibchar in Madaripur.

The accident took place on the Dhaka-Khulna highway at around 6pm on Tuesday (July 28) in the Kathalbari area of Shibchar in Jajira upazila.

The deceased were identified as Mithu (20) and Nupur (18). Mithu is the son of Aynal Madbar of Kandi village of Karim Hawladar of Kutubpur  upazila of the union and Nupur is the daughter of Sobhan Hawladar of the same area. They are in-laws of each other.

According to police and family sources, Nupur went with her father Sobhan Hawladar to see a doctor at the nearby Munshi Bazaar in the afternoon. Later, on the way home from there, they met their relative Mithu, who was riding a motorcycle. Later, the two of them left for home on motorcycles.

The motorcycle collided head-on with a microbus on the Dhaka-Khulna highway when it reached the Naodoba and Kathalbari border areas of Jajira upazila. Mithu died on the spot.

The locals later rescued Nupur and took her to the local Pachchar Royal Hospital. From there, Nupur died on the way to Faridpur Medical College for advanced treatment.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Shibchar Highway Police Station Ohiduzzaman said Shibchar Highway Police visited the spot and recovered the body. The motorcycle and microbus have been seized.
