Two killed as bus hits three-wheeler

Two persons including the driver of the three-wheeler were killed in a fatal road accident at Bejpara fuel pump area on Jhenaidah- Kushtia highway on Friday evening. Remaining passenger of the three-wheeler sustained severe injuries during the time, said the police and locals.

The deceased were Uzzal Hossain (45), son of Momrej Sheikh of village Kabirpur and three-wheeler driver Mijanur Rahman (47), son of Abu Taleb of village Jhaudia in Shailkupa municipality. Injured Samarat Hossain was the son of Sarder Pramanik of Charsadhupur village in Kushtia Sadar. 

They said, a fruit laden three-wheeler (mahindra) was marching towards Jhenaidah, while the Khulna bound passenger bus of Rupsha Paribahan towards Khulna. At about 6.30 when they arrived near the spot at Bejpara, the bus had hit the three-wheeler. All the three staying in the mahindra sustained injuries were rushed to Kaliganj upazila health complex.

Emergency Medical Officer (EMO) at Kaliganj upazila health complex (UHC) Dr. Kawshik Sazid when contacted said three persons were rushed to the UHC where some Uzzal Hossain was already dead. They referred the three-wheeler driver Mijanur Rahman to Dhaka medical college hospital (DMCH) when his condition was deteriorating faster. Injured Samrat Hossain was given treatment at the UHC.

Three-wheeler driver Mijanur Rahman’s younger brother Shahidul Islam staying at DMCH when contacted said Mijanur had succumbs to his injuries at about 2.00 AM there. Both of the deceased were burired at their respective village graveyard on Saturday.

Kaliganj police station officer in charge (OC) Mahbubur Rahman when contacted said all the three injured were rushed to Kaliganj UHC where the attending physician declared Uzzal Hossain dead, while three-wheeler driver Mijanur Rahman succumbs to his injuries at DMCH in the early hours of Saturday. Police could not grill the killer Rupsha Paribahan bus driver and helper till this reporting, OC said.
