Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two people along with fake notes from Thengapur area in Akkelpur upazila of the district last night.
The arrested were identified as Shohidul Islam, 50, son of late Abed Ali, resident of Altafnagar village of Dupchanchia upazila in Bogura district and Robiul Islam, 25, son of Afzal Hossain, resident of Borai village of Dupchanchia upazila in Bogura district.
Being informed, a team of the elite force conducted a raid in Thengapur area around 8.30 pm and arrested them along with the fake notes of worth Taka 3 lakh and a schoolbag, a hand watch, two mobile phone sets and cash Taka 4,800 were seized from their possessions, senior assistant superintendent of police and deputy commander of RAB-5 Masud Rana said.
During initial interrogation, the arrested admitted they have been trading of the fake currency notes for a long time in the district and its adjacent areas. A case was filed with Akkelpur Police Station in this connection, the RAB official added.
