Two held with cannabis, sharp weapons in RAB drives

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) conducting separate raids in Noakhali and Narayanganj captured two criminals along with nine axes and 41 kg of cannabis on Tuesday.

The apprehended were identified as Hammadur Rahman, 19, resident of Shoilladali village under Shudharam police station and Rashed, 20, resident of Awazbali village under the same police station of Noakhali.

Commanding officer of RAB-11 Lieutenant Colonel Imralullah Sarker told the media that two RAB teams conducted the raids in Noakhali and Narayanganj and captured the criminals with sharp weapons and cannabis. RAB also seized a private car at the time that was used for carrying narcotics.

A team of RAB conducted raid at Kormulla bazar under Shudharam police station in Noakhali and then searching a shop of the market recovered 9 long sharp weapon (axes). 

They also detained two criminals from the shop who were identified as criminals that used to extort money. Another team seized 41 kg cannabis along with a private car in abandoned condition from Kanchpur area on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj.

RAB claimed that when they were chasing a suspicious private car, the driver fled away leaving the car in Kanchpur. The cannabis and a National Identity Card (NID) of Chand Mia, son of Nurul Islam, resident of Omudpur village of Pirojpur was recovered from searching the car. Two criminal cases were recorded with respective police stations in this connection.
